In the center of Arkansas sits Cabot, the largest city in Lonoke County. With a population of over 21,000, Cabot is the state’s 20th-largest city. This growing Little Rock suburb is a great place to raise kids, as almost half of households are home to children under 18. Education Cabot schools belong to the Cabot School District. There is only one high school in Cabot, Cabot High School. Students can attend one of several elementary schools—Central, Eastside, Magness Creek, Northside, Southside, Stagecoach, Ward Central or Westside. After elementary school, students will move on to either Middle School North or Middle School South, and then Junior High North or Junior High South. For post-secondary education, students can find nearby opportunities in Little Rock at the University of Arkansas or Philander Smith College. Just north of Cabot at ASU Beebe or further to the northwest in Conway are the University of Central Arkansas and Hendrix College. Recreation There is a nice newly-built community center in Cabot with a swimming pool, basketball courts, meeting rooms, tennis courts, a trail, a gym and more. Kids are active in numerous little league sports while golfers can play near one of the two country clubs at the north and southeast of the city. Lonoke is a dry county with a prohibition on alcohol, and the two country clubs, along with the Veterans of Foreign Wars post, are among the few places that supply alcohol in Cabot. The local culture is one of pride in its youth—Cabot High School’s Friday night football games are heavily attended. The Cabot High School Band, which has over 200 students among its ranks, is also a source of pride; it currently represents Arkansas at the Washington, D.C. National Independence Day Parade. Every October, residents can head downtown and enjoy the local Cabotfest fair.The City of Cabot, Arkansas is located approximately 25 miles north of Little Rock. It was incorporated in 1891.
